The RCD of Santa Cruz County (with funding from the USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program and the DWR Integrated Regional Water Management Program) provides technical and financial assistance for growers to evaluate and improve irrigation efficiency. Services include irrigation system evaluations, flow meter installation and water use tracking, nutrient management, conservation planning, and financial assistance for implementing new practices and technologies. PV Water has implemented a pilot irrigation efficiency program. The irrigation efficiency program is coordinated by the Ag Water Quality Coalition and includes partnerships with the CWD, RCD’s of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, NRCS, UC Cooperative Extension, and individual growers. The program offers growers technical and financial assistance over multiple seasons to improve irrigation efficiency, help realize the benefits to their bottom line, and adopt new water management practices.
